Fun in the snow

It's Winter!

It's been a calm one this year so as soon as we had enough snow today to enjoy, we put on our snow boots and headed out to shovel and make a snowman.  When the kids got tired of helping Daddy, they took out their sled and played until it was time to head back inside for soup and hot chocolate.  It was the perfect winter day with just the perfect amount to snow to play in.

PeePee in the Potty

Just a month and a half after he turned 2, Logan is potty trained!

Roughly a month before his 2nd birthday, he had been showing a lot of interest in peeing in the potty.  He'd tell us he wanted to go and he's gone in the potty a handful of times.  But we never officially trained him.  Most of the time when he would tell us, we'd just tell him to go in his diaper (no points for lazy parents!)

One day, we just decided it's was finally time to try it out and give him a chance.  It's a commitment and a lot of work!  He was excited to wear big boy undies (which he calls "undies like DD's") and he did great for the first day with just a couple of accidents.  As a reward, he'd get TWO M&Ms which motivated him to keep up with it.  Although he did great for someone his age (he's really still a "baby" and we honestly didn't expect much), it did take him a while to really get the hang of it.  The hardest part was potty training while in school.  It was obvious that he wasn't comfortable going in their potty and the worst part, NO M&Ms in school.  After much pep talk and lots of encouragement, Logan proudly wears his big boy undies.  It took him about two and half weeks to be officially potty trained!  We couldn't be more thrilled!

all it took were TWO M&Ms

The kids danced the night away as we celebrated Uncle Tommy's retirement.

Happy 2012!

We put on our polka got socks and celebrated new year's eve by going to the Tan's Annual New Year's Eve Party.  We ate lots of yummy food and watched the ball drop at midnight.  The kids stayed up until past midnight, had 12 grapes (well maybe just a little bit more than that.  We all know 12 is not enough for their bellies.) and apple cider.  It was a perfect way to ring in the new year.

 And they are out!

Happy 2012!  This is going to be a GREAT year.
May your new year be blessed and prosperous!
