Sesame Place 2009

Before the baby makes his arrival within the next month, we wanted to go on a last 'family of 3' getaway. We thought going to Sesame Place for a couple of days would be perfect followed by a day at the WaterClub in Borgata (AC). Dylan absolutely LOVED every minute of it! We were so glad we were able to spend this time with him before things get a 'little' hectic.

It's definitely bitter sweet. We enjoyed giving Dylan all of our attention for those three days.

He was a very sad dragon. He kept saying "don't like it". Withing a few minutes and several pictures, he took off his head piece and wings. While on line for a show, he told us he needed to go pottty.

If Dylan doesn't see grandma for a few days, he constantly asks to go to Grandma's house. So this weekend, we went to AC to meet up with Grandma. When we told Dylan, he couldn't have been more excited: "Yay, Grandma time"

PT Day 5

Two words: Accident Free!!!!

PT Days 3 and 4

So we're still in training mode.

Saturday started out pretty good with Dylan doing exactly what he needed to do. We were sure he was close to being PTed. So, we decided to run some errands and it would also be a good time for us to 'train' him while in public places.

When we went out, we brought the potty with us since we anticipated he might be scared off by the public restroom. Well, we soon discovered that not only is he NOT into public restrooms, he refused to go in public places as well (i.e. parking lot, car, etc).

Needless to say, our attempt to potty train on-the-go put a little brake on Dylan's success with PT. After getting home from our errands and the next day he had few accidents. It was starting to get so frustrating. Mommy was wondering if maybe he isn't quite ready for the task. But after talking to him about it and reassuring him, we were back in business. He went in his potty a few more times before we had another accident. That's expected, right?

One major improvement - he finally pooped in the potty! It took him about an hour to finally get it out, but he did it!

So this weekend, we were hoping for accident-free days which didn't really happen. We know it's a long process. And as Dylan is potty training, we learned that so are we. We're really trying to be patient and encouraging. Hopefully tomorrow goes better than the last couple of days - or else we might have to reassess our plans.

Oh and how can we forget - he marked his territory in his brother's room. =)

Potty training - Day 2

The day started out great with Dylan going to the potty first thing in the morning. About an hour later, he went to the potty again to poop. Well, sort of... it landed on the floor. But that still counts, right?! =)

When we went to music class and during nap we had to put pull-ups on him. Then in the afternoon, he had a little tinkle accident, but later on he went to the potty again. We get so excited and so does Dylan!

There was one accident after dinner. Don't want to get graphic - so let's just say it reminded us of when we were house training the dogs.

Overall, he did great today. He doesn't like being asked if he has to go to the potty. But when he needs to, he just walks over to do his business.

Hopefully, we'll have even more success tomorrow with both Mommy and Daddy are home with Dylan.

Potty Training

With the baby arriving just within a few weeks, we decided it's time to get serious with potty training. Before Dylan turned 2, we bought a potty for him just to get him familiar with it. Dylan has been great with telling us when he's made ka-ka or pee-pee. He'd even get his own diaper and tell us to change him. He has also gone in his potty a few times, but nothing consistent.

According to our pedi, Dylan has been displaying signs that he's perhaps ready to be potty trained. Most of the time, boys aren't completely potty trained until 3yo. Our plan for now is to give this a try for the next five days... and our Pedi said, if it doesn't work, it means he just isn't ready and give it another go in the next couple of months.

In our ideal dream world, Dylan would be potty trained before the baby joins us.

Day 1:

This morning, Mommy decided it's time to officially start potty training. First thing in the morning, Mommy told Dylan that he has to tell Mommy when it's time to go pee-pee or ka-ka. Mommy took off his diaper and pants - 'bomba' (as Dylan would say) for the whole day!

The potty was moved to the hallway so it's easier for Dylan to get to. At first he had a little bit of an accident which he immediately reported, but after breakfast, he walked to his potty and peed!!! (yay!!!). Every 10 minutes, Mommy would asked if he needs to go to the potty, and he'd always say no. He did have a couple of tinkles around the house but he would always tell Mommy. Then later that day, when Daddy came home, he peed in the potty again -wooohooo!!! (this time it was outside since they were putting up halloween decorations. Yes, we brought the potty outside!!!). So, we'd say for the first day, he did pretty good!!!

(Note: Although we were not supposed put a diaper on him once potty training starts, he did wear a diaper during naptime because we didn't want him to wet his bed. For nighttime, we bought his pull-ups which hopefully wouldn't confuse him).
